I spent more time than I'd like to admit trying to figure out where to build my newsletter.
There are a lot of options โ different fee structures, payout speeds, how much you actually own your audience, whether there's any built-in discovery. Comparing them properly is a real time sink.
I used a free tool called Pick the Platform that maps out 46 creator platforms across all of those variables. You answer about 10 questions on what matters to you, it scores everything against your priorities. My match was Substack.
The reasoning made sense for where I am: writing and publishing my newsletter, at an early stage, and wanting to own my audience from the start.
If you're trying to figure out the same thing: picktheplatform.com โ takes about 2 minutes.
